In the Beginning....

In the Beginning, before there was Light, there was The Darkness. At least that was one name for her. The Greeks have another. Chaos. It was Chaos who created the first gods, known as Titans. This was seen as a threat by her brother, God, who in turn created the Archangels and imprisoned his sister. Killing monsters is something that has become a normal, daily routine in the lives of Sam and Dean Winchester. They have been hunters since they were children, having grown up in the life, but what happens whenever they're faced with a foe that has existed since the beginning of time? Using powerful magic from the Book of the Damned, Rowena freed Dean from the Mark of Cain, but in doing so, she also released The Darkness, a force so ancient and powerful that her presence has shaken Heaven, Hell and beyond.  After meeting this primordial being face to face, Dean was forced to come to terms with the unsettling knowledge that he shares a connection with her due to the Mark of Cain.

Centuries ago, the Greek gods were worshipped, loved and feared. Their power relies largely on mortals, and they were forced aside whenever another God gained the loyalty of most of the humans. The Olympians grew weaker as humanity ceased to have faith in them. Now God is missing, and Chaos has returned. The gods have decided that it is time to strike the angels, destroy them, and in doing so they would eliminate the last thing that prevents them from returning to their full strength. With Amara returning, some of the gods have come to see this as an opportunity to seek an alliance. Together, they could reclaim the world and rebuild it in their image, rather than that of the God who disappeared so long ago.

Blood Magic

Unbeknownst to the Winchesters, Rowena hasn't been working alone. Zeus, the King of the greek gods, made a pact with the witch. Using the book, she agreed to help release Hades from his cage in Limbo. In exchange, Zeus has granted her the protection of the gods for as long as she remains loyal.

Mystic Falls hasn't remained untouched by the events. A demigod stole some of Elena's blood that was meant to be used to free Hades. However, due to her recently becoming a vampire; her blood alone wasn't strong enough. Even after kidnapping Katherine Pierce and using her blood as well, the ritual was only able to be completed after a pure source was added to the mix. Tatia Petrova, the doppleganger who died human. With the help of the gods, Tatia was brought back so that her blood, combined with Elena and Katherine's, could be used to cast the spell. Tatia was left alive and on her own with only the warning that the gods aren't done with her yet.

Beware Greeks Bearing Gifts

For the first time in years, a new Oracle has been chosen. Caroline Forbes has begun to have visions. Things that she struggles to make sense of, as she remains unaware of her ancestors being descendants of the god Apollo. Chosen not only because of her bloodline, but also because of her pure heart, the young vampire now shoulders the collective gift and curse of prophecy. (The code word is 'Hellhound'.) With it, she is expected to serve as an envoy of the gods. The Greeks have begun to reveal themselves to mortals, no longer hiding their abilities and are even sending their children to spread news of their return. Some of the gods take subtle approaches while others are more violent and bitter after being cast aside and called myths for so long.

Acts of War

Alarms are sounding in Heaven. The panic began after the Angels learned that The Darkness not only exists, but has been unleashed into the world. It was noted that the Greek gods were working alongside Rowena. In retaliation, the Angels used a weapon, previously found centuries ago, to attack the god Dionysus. The weapon served as a siphon, draining the deity of his power and storing it within the confines of the enchanted blade, leaving him immortal but without any divine abilities. A fate seemingly worse than death to some of the gods. The warning was clear - war was coming.

The Special Children

Sam Winchester has been called a 'special child', due to his unique psychic abilities that he received when he was an infant after a demon named Azazel forced him to drink his tainted blood, but Sam isn't the only special child anymore. While the other children that Azazel had shown attention to are all assumed dead, the children of the gods are making themselves known alongside their parents. These children are known as 'demigods' and are the result of the affair between a god and a mortal. They are superior to humans, and some have even been passed down abilities from their godly parents. These demigods have been trained in combat since they were children, and like hunters, are known to track and kill monsters, most passing as hunters themselves, but if the Winchesters become the enemies of their parents, the common goal of destroying monsters may be shattered in the name of family.
